The Sunday school material for children age 3 through 8th grade is "Gather Round: Hearing and sharing God's good news." This Anabaptist-Mennonite curriculum follows the historical and biblical foundations of Mennonite and other peace churches. It invites children to grow in their relationship with
Jesus
. A Bible story is at the heart of each lesson.
Children
pre-K through 5th grade gather for music and Bible story in Fellowship Hall
before going to classes.
On the second Sunday of the month, Junior and Senior High
classes join pre-K through 5th grade classes for music in Fellowship Hall,
before going to separate classes
Children’s classes are organized in the following groups:
Nursery
During the worship service nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers.
2 and 3 year olds During Sunday school child care and activities are provided for 2-3 year-olds.
Pre-K and Kindergarten
Teachers engage children in the Bible story, creative activities and play.
Grades 1 and 2
Children in 1st and 2nd grades are involved in educational activities that acquaint them with God,
Jesus
, the Bible, God’s love and the importance of loving others.
Grades 3, 4 and 5
At this age children begin to read and study the Bible. They focus on the Bible story in different ways. Ideas such as helping others as
Jesus
did, valuing peace, maintaining fairness in relationships and loving all of God’s people are introduced.
Grades 6, 7 and 8
Students ask questions about the interaction of Christian values with American culture and behavior. As they review the basics of faith, they explore how to make wise choices as they grow older.
High School
Sessions throughout the year will include Bible study and current issues.
Worship: Sundays 9:30 a.m. unless noted otherwise Fellowship time: 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Christian Education hour: 10:50 to 11:45 a.m.
