HAITI REPORT on FEBRUARY 3, 6:30-7:30 p.m.:

Sunday in worship at BCMC it was announced that this Wednesday Cliff Dick and Jenni Koontz will share a report and show pictures from each of their recent trips to assist with relief work in Haiti (Cliff with HOPE International, and Jenni with Heart to Heart International).  This is a reminder and announcement to those of you who may not have been here for worship.  The presentation will be this Wednesday evening, Feb. 3, 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the BCMC Fellowship Hall.  No supper will be served, but at 6:00 p.m. drinks (coffee, water) will be provided and you are invited to bring your own sack-supper if you’d like to eat before or during the presentation.

A draft of the proposed bylaws is now available for review and comment.

Bethel College Mennonite Church , a member of Mennonite Church USA , is located at the corner of E. 26th St. and College Avenue on the Bethel College campus in North Newton , Kan. Our average Sunday morning worship attendance is more than 300, and we feature Sunday school classes for all ages. Music and the arts are important elements in our worship, which often includes a variety of vocal and hand bell choirs, organ, piano, strings and brass instrumentation, as well as readers’ theater and dramatic readings. Yet the work of the body of Christ is not confined to Sundays. Our outreach efforts include a playschool, service projects and other activities. We invite you to visit and join us in praise, worship and service to God.

Welcoming Statement
“Bethel College Mennonite Church welcomes into fellowship and membership all persons who confess faith in Jesus Christ, without regard to their race, ethnic background, gender, age, sexual orientation, education, ability, and other factors which give rise to discrimination and marginalization.”
Vision: Healing and Hope
God calls us to be followers of Jesus Christ , and by the power of the Holy Spirit to grow as communities of grace, joy, and peace, so that God’s healing and hope flow through us to the world.

February 2010

7            Worship with Ervin Stutzman, new executive director of Mennonite Church USA, will be guest speaker in worship and Sunday School.  He will be invited to reflect on current issues in our denomination, including the Resolution on following Christ and growing together as communities even in conflict adopted by the MC USA Delegate Assembly in July 2009.  The resolution recognizes ongoing debate in the church over human sexuality; affirms the church's commitment to ongoing dialogue; confesses that we as a church have rarely found a way to create a healthy, safe, honest and respectful environment in which to have dialogue; and calls for the use of resources to live faithfully to extend hospitality to all of God's people.
